Needles
  •  Use a larger needle when stitching a vertical or horizontal stitch.  The larger needle will open the canvas threads so they don't press against the thread.  You should get better coverage.
  • Never leave your needle in your work.  Needles are plated.   If left in the work too long, they can rust and stain the canvas.
  • Always start a new project with a new needle.
  • If a needle seems to be changing color, throw it out.
Threads with Multiple Strands
  • Separate the strands first.  Then put together the number of strands you will use.  Keep the threads laying flat next to each other to maximize light reflection.
Using Magnifiers
  • Although many of us need magnifiers to see our work more clearly, be careful when you use them.  Never leave an uncovered magnifier in front of a window or on the beach.  We have had several customers who burned their canvases!
