Needles
- Use a larger needle when stitching a vertical or horizontal stitch. The larger needle will open the canvas threads so they don't press against the thread. You should get better coverage.
- Never leave your needle in your work. Needles are plated. If left in the work too long, they can rust and stain the canvas.
- Always start a new project with a new needle.
- If a needle seems to be changing color, throw it out.
Threads with Multiple Strands
- Separate the strands first. Then put together the number of strands you will use. Keep the threads laying flat next to each other to maximize light reflection.
Using Magnifiers
- Although many of us need magnifiers to see our work more clearly, be careful when you use them. Never leave an uncovered magnifier in front of a window or on the beach. We have had several customers who burned their canvases!
