Larry the Turkey Class
Wouldn't you love to have this delightful Turkey decorating your Thanksgiving table? Well, it possible.
This delightful canvas by Raymond Crawford is a quick project. Although some of the feathers and the wattle are done in great decorative stitches, most it is done in simple tent stitches (Basketweave or Continental) but with fun threads. It's the perfect project for the beginner or advanced beginner stitcher interested in learning new decorative stitches.
Larry the Turkey can decorate your Thanksgiving Table, too. Take the class and have the fully stitched canvas back to us by October 1. We will have it back in time for Thanksgiving dinner. We will call you once the canvas and kit are ready so you can get a head start. Class fee includes Kit, Stitch Guide and Class: $150.
Dates: Sunday, Sept. 12: 9 AM to 12 Noon.
Monday, Sept. 13: 6:30 PM to 9:30 PM
We will need a minimum of four participants for each class.
National Needlepoint Teachers
Four National Teachers in 2010
Ridgewood Needlepoint is delighted to be hosting four national teachers in 2010. The first two teachers, Carole Lake and David McCaskill, taught classes for the painted canvas enthusiast. This summer Tony Minieri's four-day class, "Back to Basics: Bad Habits Broken Here" will focus on improving your stitching technique. In October, Deborah Wilson will be teaching her Autumn Tussie Mussie.
Tony Minieri
Back to Basics The Right Way; Bad Habits Broken Here
This class is designed for the novice stitcher or experienced stitcher who is ready to bring his/her stitching to a new level. In this four session class (taught on four Summer Mondays), Tony explains how and why some techniques are better than others. I've been taking the class over a period of months; it's one of the best classes I've ever taken. In addition to learning new techniques, I've learned why to use certain techniques instead of others. I've also learned simple techniques that have improved the level of my stitching.
The class will run from 10 AM - 5 PM on these four days:
Monday, June 21
Monday, July 19
Sunday, August 22
Monday, August 23.
Class Fee: $ 300
Deposit: $ 100 non-refundable deposit plus your credit card on file.
$ 50 will be collected at each class.
Space is limited so call or email us to reserve your place.
Participants are committing to all four sessions.
Deborah Wilson
Autumn Tussie Mussie
Deborah Wilson returns to Ridgewood Needlepoint on Sunday and Monday, October 17-18. Deborah will be teaching her Autumn Tussie Mussie, the second in a series of canvases based on the Victorian nosegay holder.

A blend of traditional needlepoint techniques, dimensional stitching and a touch of metal thread work make this project jump off the canvas! Using garnet beads to form blackberries and a variety of handpainted threads from Germany afford the stitcher a NEW experience. The Japanese maple leaves are constructed off the canvas and applied in a manner which allows their points to float "free" should the stitcher so desire. A silk roving hankie provides a base for the pods formed by real handpainted silkworm cocoons. Stitchers of all ability levels will find these innovative methods exciting and applicable to other projects.
Dates: Sunday & Monday, October 17-18
Times: 10 AM to 5 PM
Class Fee: $ 450 (Includes canvas, stitch guide, threads, evertites and class)
Deposit: $ 225 plus your credit card on file to hold your place.
Three National Teachers in 2011
Tony Minieri's Patterns of the Orient
Tony Minieri will be teaching this incredible piece during the first three months of 2011.
"Patterns of the Orient" is the first in a series of designs based on the fabrics of a particular area. In Patterns of the Orient, Tony was inspired by the fabrics of China, Japan and Korea.
The piece is stitched on 24ct. canvas, using an unbelievable selection of silk threads and stitched in some wonderful composite stitches including Bargello, flat chevron, vertical couching, overlapping lattice, cashmere, Gobelin and elongated Hungarian. You'll love stitching this phenomenal piece. The picture above shows the piece in Tony's original colors but there are several color choices.
In order to accommodate Tony's busy travel schedule and working women, the piece will be taught over a series of Monday evenings plus two all-day Sunday sessions. The dates and times are:

Sunday, January 30: 9:30 AM - 4:30 PM
